Licensing
Choose the OpenNN license that fits your project. Use the open-source license or contact Artelnics about commercial terms for proprietary integration.
Open-source license
GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 (AGPLv3), with OpenNN’s additional permissions.
- No license fee. Commercial use is allowed.
- Use, study, modify and share OpenNN under the AGPLv3 terms.
- When distributing covered software, comply with the applicable source-code, license and notice requirements.
- If you modify OpenNN and let users interact with that version over a network, offer those users its corresponding source code as required by the AGPLv3.
Commercial license
For proprietary products and services that need permissions beyond the AGPLv3.
- Integrate OpenNN into closed-source applications under a separate agreement.
- Discuss deployment in embedded devices, on-premises products or hosted services.
- Keep proprietary application code private within the rights granted by your agreement.
- Agree on scope, pricing and any support or integration services with Artelnics.
The choice depends on the permissions your project needs. A commercial project can use the open-source license if it complies with its terms.
A few things to know
Exported models and generated code
Outputs are not covered by the AGPLv3 merely because OpenNN produced them. OpenNN’s additional permission lets you use OpenNN material in generated outputs under terms of your choice. Exporting a model alone does not require a commercial license.
GPU and math libraries
OpenNN includes additional permission for combinations with NVIDIA CUDA Toolkit, cuDNN and Intel oneAPI MKL. See the exact scope in the additional permissions.
Third-party components
Dependencies, pretrained weights and example data retain their own terms under either licensing option. Check the third-party notices and each data folder’s source notice.
Earlier versions
Copies of OpenNN 8.x and earlier, and development snapshots published before the license change, retain their LGPLv2.1-or-later terms. Always check the license included with your version.
This page summarizes the options. The open-source license is AGPL version 3 only, together with the additional permissions in LICENSING.md. Commercial rights and services are defined in a separate written agreement.
Tell us about your project
Let us know what you are building, how you plan to integrate OpenNN and where it will run. Artelnics can help you explore the appropriate licensing option.
Commercial scope and pricing are available on request. Support and other services are agreed separately.
